FORT WORTH, Texas — Albertsons Markets here said its customers in the South and Southwest have raised more than $76,000 for disaster relief efforts following the plant explosion in West, Texas, and the company has donated an additional $24,000 from its disaster relief fund for a total donation of $100,000.

The company launched a Texas Tornado campaign last week across seven southern states following tornadoes last week in North Texas — an effort scheduled to run through the first part of June to raise funds for disaster relief efforts by the Salvation Army.

Mike Withers, president of the company's Southern division, said, "The spirit of giving in our stores is both humbling and inspiring.
