ZAANDAM, the Netherlands -- Ahold here said last week it paid $124 million to complete the previously announced acquisition of Red Food Stores, Chattanooga, Tenn.
s through its U.S. holding company Pramer. The 55-store chain had annual sales of $585 million in 1993.
"We now have another strong supermarket chain in Red Food Stores," said Robert Zwartendijk, president of Ahold USA and a member of the corporate executive board.
