PHOENIX -- The Dial Corp.'s Consumer Products Group here has instituted a new truckload pricing formula for its Purex powder and liquid laundry detergents.

By supplying retailers with full pallets and a complete truckload, Dial is cutting costs and passing the savings on to its customers in the form of lower prices for its detergent. For example, a package of Purex 42-use that has an everyday low price of $5.39 to $5.99 will now be priced at $3.99 to $4.49, and $2.99 to $3.49 when on deal, according to a Dial spokeswoman.
Since both liquid and powdered detergents are available at the megadistribution centers, retailers will be able to mix and match full pallets. Dial will also continue to ship to some retailers from its 11 full-service warehouses around the country. However, only detergents shipped from the mega distribution centers, which are located near the detergent plants, will reflect the full price reduction.
