Tie Bakers here has named John J. Elkhay vice president. Elkhay is a nationally recognized chef with more than two decades of experience in the food industry. Before joining Bow Tie two years ago, he operated a catering business and was instrumental in the opening of several restaurants in the Providence, R.I., area. Originally hired as director of operations, Elkhay is now responsible for overall bakery operations. He reports directly to Richard Bready, president and chief executive officer of the company.

"John is invaluable to the Bow Tie Bakers team," said Bready. "He brings extensive experience and knowledge as a recognized culinary consultant and specialty food expert."

Elkhay has been featured in several industry publications including Gourmet Magazine and Bon Apetit and is listed in the Guinness World Book of Records for omelet making.

Bow Tie Bakers is a specialty bakery that produces Isabella's fat-free, sugar-free and no-sugar-added muffins. Introduced in 1993, Isabella's muffins are now distributed to 33 New England and metro New York retailers and distributors.
