A&P Appoints HBC Sales Director

ohen has been named health and beauty care director of sales and merchandising for Supermarket Service, the procurement arm for all HBC and general merchandise at A&P here.

She succeeds Mary Ames, who left the company.

Cohen is responsible for all A&P divisions. Previously, she was HBC director at Waldbaum's, Central Islip, N.Y., a division of A&P.

In her new position, Cohen works with group directors under the A&P umbrella, coordinating sales and merchandising programs to help them drive the business. She is responsible for two HBC warehouses, in Pennsylvania and Indiana. Meanwhile, Waldbaum's has combined its general merchandise and HBC directors' positions. Charlie DeTorres, who has served as general merchandise director, is now director of general merchandise and HBC.

Tambrands Names Marketing VP

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Gary Cooper has been named vice president of marketing for North America at Tambrands here.

Cooper is responsible for advertising, promotion and marketing in the United States and Canada. He succeeds Jackie Flatow, who now works with Tambrands as an independent consultant.

Before coming to Tambrands, Cooper was vice president of marketing for Tetley USA, Shelton, Conn.

Whitehall-Robins Taps Senior VP

MADISON, N.J. -- Edward Kuehnle has been appointed senior vice president of sales at Whitehall-Robins Healthcare, a division of American Home Products. Kuehnle is responsible for all consumer and medical sales for Whitehall-Robins and Lederle Consumer Health. He succeeds James Guidone, who is no longer with the company.

Kuehnle joined American Home Products in 1993 as senior vice president of sales. In 1994 he was named executive vice president of marketing and sales.

Prior to joining the company, he was with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Princeton, N.J., for 17 years.
