Meyer Brothers Take VP Posts at Hy-Vee

es here has named two executives to vice president positions and given another vice president added responsibility.

Jim Meyer and Steve Meyer, two brothers who have handled the chain's legal affairs, each have been named vice president, assistant secretary and corporate counsel. They were assistant vice presidents.

Both executives will report to Ron Pearson, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Hy-Vee.

Dennis Ausenhus, formerly vice president of real estate, has added responsibilities for overseeing the company's engineering department. He assumes the new title of vice president of real estate-engineering.

In adding the engineering responsibilities, Ausenhus succeeds Bob Nielsen, who was assistant vice president of engineering before he retired. Ausenhus will report to Pearson.

Additionally, Juli Hurst, internal audit manager, has been named director of internal audit, a new position. She reports to Mike Wheeler, vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer. Julie Proffitt, training specialist supervisor, has been named director of retail training, a new position. She reports to Rose Kleyweg Mitchell, vice president of education and training. Shaunelle Sutter, consumer research analyst, has been named assistant director of marketing. She will report to Mike Tetmeyer, vice president of marketing.

Stop & Shop Taps Sales Manager

BOSTON -- Stop & Shop Cos. here last week named Dean W. Cohagan general sales manager for the Boston division.

Cohagan, who began his career at Stop & Shop in 1969, most recently was director of operations for the Boston division. He also previously held several positions in the company's Connecticut division. In his new position, Cohagan is responsible for field and sales merchandising. It could not be determined last week whether general sales manager was a new position in the Boston division. He reports to William Grize, executive vice president of retailing.

Stop & Shop operates 123 supermarkets, including 85 superstores, in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York.

O'Malley Elected to Giant's Board

LANDOVER, Md. -- The board of directors of Giant Food here has elected Peter F. O'Malley to fill a vacant position.

O'Malley succeeds Richard Waxenberg, who is the former president of Eagle Food Centers, Milan, Ill. Waxenberg has retired from Giant's board after 26 years of service.

O'Malley is the founder and current counsel to the law firm of O'Malley and Miles, which specializes in real estate, land use, administrative law and commercial litigation. He also sits on the boards of Potomac Electric Power Co., Potomac Capital Investments and Legg Mason, an investment firm.

Giant Food operates 155 supermarkets in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia and Delaware.

Tuttle Takes Position at FMI

WASHINGTON -- The Food Marketing Institute here has named Michele M. Tuttle director of consumer affairs.

She succeeds Susan Borra, who has left FMI to become a vice president with the International Food Information Council here.

In her new position, Tuttle is responsible for planning, developing and implementing consumer education, information and nutrition programs coordinated by the consumer affairs department.

She was senior health educator with Kaiser Permanente here and also held a position as a clinical dietitian and nutrition educator at Duke University's diet and fitness center.

Tuttle reports to Dagmar Farr, vice president of consumer affairs.
