Dietrich Joins Schultz Board

tz Sav-O Stores here said it has named G. William "Bill" Dietrich to a three-year term on its board of directors. Previously, Dietrich worked for the privately held Superior Services, which he took public in 1996. Superior Services was subsequently purchased by Onyx North America, Bellevue, Wash., a subsidiary of Vivendi S.A., a multinational French company, and Dietrich became president and chief executive officer of Onyx North America, responsible for Vivendi's North American waste services business.

The company also said it has promoted Mary E. McLaughlin (previously director of procurement and category management) to vice president, procurement and category management; Wayne A. Wiertzema (previously director of store engineering and real estate) to vice president, store engineering and real estate; and Scott P. Zeier (previously director of produce operations) to vice president, produce merchandising and operations.

Fleming Names Thatcher Group VP

DALLAS -- Fleming here said it has named Jim Thatcher group vice president, sales and marketing, for the Fleming Retail Group; Tom Strzelczyk president, Western operations, for the Fleming Retail Group, with responsibility for the Food4Less stores in Northern California, Utah and Arizona; and Pat Liska president, Eastern operations, with responsibility for the Rainbow stores in Minneapolis and the company's new price-impact entry in Wisconsin.

Goodspeed Joins Haggen Group

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Haggen here said it has named Dick Goodspeed to its group of advisors. Goodspeed succeeds Bob Bolinder, who resigned. Goodspeed is former president and chief operating officer of the Safeway-owned Vons Cos., Arcadia, Calif. Bolinder resigned from his position on the board to serve a mission for his church, heading the welfare program for 15 European countries.

Cousin Promoted to Senior VP

BOISE, Idaho -- Albertson's here named Ertharin Cousin senior vice president, public relations and government affairs, effective immediately. Cousin will report directly to Lawrence R. Johnston, chairman and chief executive officer. Most recently, Cousin was group vice president of public affairs. In her new role, Cousin will lead the company's nationwide external communication efforts, including community and government affairs, as well as media relations.

Genuardi Named to Quigley Board

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -- Quigley Corp. here said last week it has named Charles A. Genuardi to its board last week. Genuardi was president and chief executive officer, Genuardi's Family Markets, Norristown, Pa., from 1999 to 2000, when the company was sold to Safeway, Pleasanton, Calif. The Quigley Corp. is a leading marketer and developer of natural health and homeopathic products, including Cold-Eeze.

Hynes Promoted to CFO at Sobeys

STELLARTON, Nova Scotia -- Sobeys here said last week it has promoted Glenn Hynes to executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective immediately. Hynes worked most recently as senior vice president, planning and business intelligence at Sobeys. He succeeds Allan Rowe who left the company in January.
