LOS ANGELES -- Five top entertainment industry executives will join talk show host Larry King for a panel on "The Future of Home Entertainment" on Sunday, July 24, during the Video Software Dealers Association's annual convention. King will moderate the panel. The participants will be: Steve Berrard, president and vice chairman of Blockbuster Entertainment, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Paul Kagan, president of Kagan & Associates, Carmel, Calif.; Tom Kalinske, president and chief executive officer of Sega of America, Redwood City, Calif.; Bill Mechanic, president of 20th Century Fox, Los Angeles, and Jack Valente, president and CEO of Motion Picture Association of America, Washington. VSDA has expressed disappointment over a cross-promotional deal between MCA/Universal Home Video, Universal City, Calif., and McDonald's Corp., Chicago. In the promotion, consumers can buy one of four movies for $5.99 with the purchase of a large sandwich at McDonald's. The titles are: "Back to the Future," "Field of Dreams," "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West" and "The Land Before Time."
