ORLANDO, Fla. — A carnival atmosphere welcomed retailers, distributors and publishers at the “Print Comes to Life” reception for the 2007 Retail Conference of the Magazine Publishers of America and the International Periodical Distributors Association, both based in New York, this month. While browsing the many popular book and magazine titles on display, guests were treated to having their fortunes told and their caricatures drawn. Signing books and magazines were best-selling authors Lisa Kleypas, Lee Child, Roxanne St. Claire and Karen Hawkins, as well as Playboy's Miss March Playmate, Tyran Richard. Educational sessions for the close to 600 attendees highlighted the importance of category management and connecting with the consumer.
