ST. HELENA, CALIF. -- An innovation that allows a product to speak for itself is the latest evolution in Center Store shelf-talkers, retailers told SN.

Harrison Napa Valley's "Hey, I'm Talking to You" Shelf-Talkers are recordable units that attach to grocery shelves and literally start talking when a consumer presses a button. The talkers say things such as "Hey you, get over here" and "What am I, chopped liver?," all with a definitive New York accent.

The product is currently featured alongside New York Deli Beer Mustard.

Matt Buckman, head buyer at Draegers Markets, Palo Alto, Calif., has already seen a spike in sales since his stores installed the talkers in early July.

"The spike has been very promising," said Buckman. "As the technology progresses, the unit could become smaller and more user friendly. The possibilities are endless."

Billy Lee, assistant grocery manager at A Southern Season, Chapel Hill, N.C., said his store has ordered the product but has not received it yet.

"We're excited about it. Recipes and shelf-talkers, anything bright or colorful that draws attention to the product, works for the Center Store aisles," said Lee.
