d's is testing home-delivery service in 80 restaurants in its Norfolk, Va., region.

The test, which was initiated by the regional office, was begun early in the fall and will continue for the foreseeable future, said a spokeswoman at the chain's corporate headquarters here.

"It's very local. The regional office wanted to see if this is a service that customers there want. No other region of McDonald's is conducting such a test," she added. So far, it seems to be something customers are using, she said, but declined to be more specific.

Customers call an 800 number and the order is bounced to the McDonald's unit nearest the caller.

Further details were not available from the corporate office or the regional office.
