NASH FINCH NAMES BEFORT SR. VP, MERCHANDISING

MINNEAPOLIS — Nash Finch Co. has named Howard Befort senior vice president of merchandising. He brings more then 30 years of industry experience in marketing, merchandising and supply chain management. He will report to Christopher A. Brown, executive vice president of food distribution. Befort spent 33 years with Pleasanton, Calif.-based Safeway, holding positions that included senior vice president of marketing systems and strategies. Immediately prior to joining Nash Finch, he served as executive vice president and managing partner of Encore Associates, a strategic advisory firm serving the food and consumer goods industries.

FOOD LION PROMOTES PRICE, DEBOER TO VP POSTS

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion has named Kyle Price vice president of category management, deli/bakery. He succeeds Tammy DeBoer, who has been named vice president of operations for the company's Northern Division. Price, who will report to Derrick Penick, senior vice president of merchandising and distribution, most recently was director of customer development and local marketing. Price began his career with A&P and also worked for Hannaford Bros. and Homeruns.com before joining Food Lion in 2001. DeBoer was responsible for deli, bakery and home meal solutions operations prior to her promotion. She came to Food Lion in 2005 after holding executive posts with Nash Finch Co. and Ahold. She began her grocery career at Food Lion, serving 13 years and rising to the position of vice president of dry merchandising.

SAVE-A-LOT NAMES GOODMAN EXECUTIVE VP, COO

ST. LOUIS — Save-A-Lot, Supervalu's limited-assortment chain based here, has appointed Mark Goodman executive vice president and chief operating officer. He will manage retail operations for Save-A-Lot's 1,200 stores and oversee the company's licensed retail groups, merchandising, vendor management and supply chain efforts. He reports to Bill Shaner, president and chief executive officer. Prior to joining Save-A-Lot, Goodman was executive vice president of marketing, membership and e-commerce for Wal-Mart Stores and Sam's Club, Bentonville, Ark. Before that he was corporate vice president, U.S. strategy and operations, at McDonald's Corp.

GOODWIN, STREETMAN NAMED REGIONAL VPS AT BI-LO

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Dwayne Goodwin has been named regional vice president for Bi-Lo's Foothills region and Rusty Streetman was named regional vice president of the retailer's Eastern region, Bi-Lo Holdings here said. Goodwin joined Bi-Lo in 1995 and most recently was vice president of operations support. Streetman began with Bi-Lo in 1974 and since 2000 has been vice president of field human resources, a position now held by Ken Peterson. Peterson most recently was a district manager. Also, Bi-Lo said Bill Head was promoted to vice president of meat and seafood marketing, and Jim Chambers had been promoted to vice president of real estate.
