Upper crust: Bakery breads have new flavors and portions

Bread customers are growing more interested in premium flavors, smaller portions, and take-and-bake breads

Bakery bread sales are finally rising.

Overall, bakery bread dollar sales were up 2.5% and volume sales were flat, over the 52 weeks ending March 26, according to Nielsen Perishables Group. The category brought in $1.6 billion in sales last year.
