Bristol, VA - A new world record has been set.

Food City, which is known for its locally grown produce program, has partnered with Turbana to create the world's largest pineapple display.

This beats the record set in 2012 by Reasor's Foods in Bixby, Oklahoma.

The Food City store on Euclid Avenue constructed a display housing 14,700 - or 18 tons - of Fyffes pineapples.

If placed end-to-end, the pineapples would span a stretch of 3.5 miles.

"Bristol is currently home to the Birthplace of County Music and the World's Fastest Half Mile, and now it's also the home of the world's largest pineapple display," says Mike Tipton, director of produce operations for Food City.
