Spartan Supports Habitat for Humanity

Spartan Stores has kicked off its 2008 Habitat for Humanity fund-raising partnership.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Spartan Stores has kicked off its 2008 Habitat for Humanity fund-raising partnership. From Feb. 2 through March 3, the distributor’s member stores are selling Habitat for Humanity medallions at the checkout. Customers can donate $1, $5 or $10 for each medallion. All proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity and help build a home for a Michigan family. “Spartan Stores is committed to Habitat for Humanity and raising funds to help a hard working family build their own home,” Spartan says in promotional materials. Spartan has been partnering with Habitat since 2006. Spartan owns and operates 102 supermarkets and drug stores in Michigan and Ohio under the D&W Fresh Markets, Family Fare Supermarkets, Felpausch Food Centers, Glen’s Markets and The Pharm banners. The company also supplies private-label and national-brand products to independent food retailers.
