GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Meijer will double match customers $10 Simply Give donations — giving an additional $20 for every $10 donated — April 12 -13 to help restock the shelves of local food pantries depleted over the holidays.
The campaign aims to replenish nearly 200 food pantries in the retailer’s five-state region by encouraging customers to purchase $10 Meijer Food Pantry Donation Cards. The cards are then converted into Meijer gift cards and given to the food pantry selected by the store.
The program runs three times a year for about ten weeks. Meijer's double match efforts have resulted in nearly $5 million in donations or about 30 million meals since Nov. 2008.
