Nash Finch, Leevers Make School Investments

MINNEAPOLIS — Nash Finch Co. said Friday that it joined with its distribution customer Leevers Foods to provide funding for resource rooms for the Devils Lake, N.D., School District and St. Joseph's Elementary School, in the town where Nash Finch was founded 135 years ago.

The resource rooms will be fully operational and available to students when school starts this year, and each room will be equipped with 10 iPads. The two companies are also establishing an annual scholarship, to be known as the Leevers Family Scholarship Fund.

Alec Covington, president and chief executive officer, Nash Finch, and the Leevers Family, Robert and Carol, and their children James Leevers and Beth Leevers Dunn, announced the new resource rooms to teachers, staff and administrators of the Devils Lake School District. North Dakota First Lady Betsy Dalrymple was the featured guest at the announcement.

"When the Leevers family told us about the need for additional technology resources in the Devils Lake schools, we knew we wanted to be part of the solution," Covington said in a statement. "Both companies have strong ties to the Devils Lake community. Nash Finch Co. started in Devils Lake in 1885 and Leevers Foods in 1938. Our companies are part of the fabric of the Devils Lake community and are proud to have helped with this worthy project.”
