Maniaci Named Chairman, CEO of Foodtown

ISELIN, N.J. — Foodtown Inc. said Monday that its board of directors has elected David Maniaci as its new chairman and chief executive officer. Maniaci will succeed Gerard Norkus, who recently announced his retirement and whose company agreed to sell its stores to Stop & Shop.

ISELIN, N.J. — Foodtown Inc. said Monday that its board of directors has elected David Maniaci as its new chairman and chief executive officer.

Maniaci will succeed Gerard Norkus, who recently announced his retirement and whose company agreed to sell its stores to Stop & Shop.

The Maniaci family has been a member of the Foodtown co-op for more than 50 years. David Maniaci owns and operates Foodtown locations in North Haledon, N.J., and Cedar Grove, N.J. Maniaci’s role as treasurer for Foodtown’s board of directors will be filled by Esmail Mobarak, Foodtown said.

“I look forward to working closely with both David and Esmail on achieving our strategic initiatives. They are well respected and very committed to the well-being and growth of our organization,” Bill Donahoe, president and chief operating officer of Foodtown, said in a statement.

Foodtown is a cooperative of 66 independently owned grocery stores in New Jersey.
