New Giant Food Store near Carlisle to open Friday with giveaways

Giant Food Stores will open its second Carlisle area store on April 8.

The store will officially open at 8 a.m., and is located in the Stonehedge Square at 950 Walnut Bottom Road in South Middleton Township. It replaces a former Nell's Shurfine Market.

The new store's opening festivities will start at 7:45 a.m. Friday with the Boiling Spring High School Marching Band.

The first 200 shoppers through the doors on Friday will receive a Giant reusable bag with a pack of Own Brand English Muffins. In addition, 500 customers will receive apple, cinnamon or strawberry Snacking Bites and Little Bite Chocolate Chip Pouches when they leave the store.

On April 9-10, an Own Brand Prize Patrol will hand out gift cards between noon and 4 p.m. to customers who buy Giant Own brand products.

The 51,800-square-foot store includes a Produce Marketplace, meat and seafood departments, deli, bakery and pharmacy. There are six EasyScan self-scanning checkout units.
