Monsanto Co., which makes the synthetic hormone rBST, or recombinant bovine somatotropin, has been pushing for regulators to take action on the grounds that such claims imply milk with rBST is less safe. The company maintained that the assertions create false demand and higher prices for milk from cows that aren't injected with the stimulant.
