SHAKING UP THE BUSINESS WORLD Margo Wootan, director of nutrition policy, Center for Science in the Public Interest HOW SHE’S DISRUPTING: Wooten led the effort to pass the national policy to require calorie labeling on menus and with the CSPI is putting pressure on supermarkets to rid their checkout aisles of unhealthy snacks.

“The whole obesity epidemic is probably explained by an extra 100 calories per person per day,” says Margo Wootan, who as director of nutrition policy for the industry watchdog, Center for Science in the Public Interest, Washington, endeavors to whittle away at those extra calories and other bad eating habits through education and public policy.

Margo Wootan led the campaign to add calorie counts to foodservice labels.
