Alaska Retailer Joins Unified

LOS ANGELES — Unified Grocers here said Monday it has added a new member in Alaska — Williams Inc., based in Ketchikan, which operates four stores in the state.

LOS ANGELES — Unified Grocers here said Monday it has added a new member in Alaska — Williams Inc., based in Ketchikan, which operates four stores in the state.

Williams was formerly supplied by Supervalu, Minneapolis. It is scheduled to begin receiving shipments from Unified's Seattle distribution center on Aug. 1.

Williams operates two supermarkets in Ketchikan and Juneau under the Alaskan & Proud banner; it also operates a community grocery store in Thorne Bay and a convenience store in Ketchikan. Stores range in size from 7,000 to 43,000 square feet.
