A&P, Stop & Shop Settle Vitale Case

Attorneys for A&P and Stop & Shop said that they had agreed to a settlement in the dispute over Stop & Shop's hiring of former A&P executive Frank Vitale.

NEW YORK — Attorneys for A&P and Stop & Shop said Friday that they had agreed to a settlement in the dispute over Stop & Shop's hiring of former A&P executive Frank Vitale.

A&P last week sought to prevent Vitale — its former vice president of operations who resigned in February — from taking a similar role at Stop & Shop, citing provisions of a non-compete agreement.

The parties said they reached an agreement during a hearing in U.S. Court here Friday, according to court documents. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
