Atlantic Bakery Expo to Expand

The Atlantic Bakery Expo will include deli/prepared foods, cheese and salty snacks at its next show.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. ­ — The Atlantic Bakery Expo will include deli/prepared foods, cheese, and salty snacks at its next show here. The decision to add the categories at its next bi-annual Atlantic Bakery Expo — set for March 18-19, 2012 — was made at a recent expo board meeting.

Members attending the meeting also voted to add two new expo committee members, representing the deli industry — Patti Rispoli, deli supervisor for Food Circus Supermarkets, Middletown, N.J., and Siobhan Furia, deli account executive for Food Scene, Colts Neck, N.J.

"Many retail bakeries have expanded to include deli items, and many supermarket decision-makers are responsible for both bakery and deli," said Kenneth Downey, expo committee member and bakery director, Kings Super Markets, Parsippany, N.J. "Over the years, we have had some deli vendors exhibit at our show, but now more than ever, there seems to be a need for them," Downey told SN.

The Atlantic Bakery Expo is owned and operated jointly by the New York State Association of Manufacturing Retail Bakers and the New Jersey Bakers Board of Trade.
