Baldwin Back in Wegmans’ Good Graces

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Alec Baldwin, star of “30 Rock,” is back on Wegmans’ TV commercial roster, according to a statement released by the retailer this week, and numerous media reports.

The TV commercial (watch the video below) was produced for the 2010 holiday season and supposed to run for three weeks last month but it was pulled a week early after Baldwin was taken off an American Airlines flight to New York on Dec. 6 for failing to turn off his cell phone.

"We regret ending the Alec Baldwin holiday commercials one week earlier than planned in response to a couple of dozen complaints. We have decided to run the commercials again, effective immediately," according to a Wegmans Food Markets statement.

“Clearly, many more people support Alec, as evidenced by the hundreds and hundreds of tweets, emails and phone calls we have received. We enjoyed working with Alec Baldwin and his mom, Carol, and would do it again. We appreciate all the kind things they have said about Wegmans and respect the good work they do for communities,” the Wegmans’ statement read.

Baldwin was obtained for the commercials after he said his mother, who lives near Syracuse, is a big fan of the supermarket.
