GREENVILLE, S.C. — Color-coded nutrition tags are rolling out at Bi-Lo.

Categories include gluten-free, organic, sensible carbs, heart-healthy, low sodium, whole grain, good source of fiber, low saturated fat, and good source of calcium, vitamin C and vitamin A.

To complement the tags, Bi-Lo pharmacists now offer shoppers “nutrition tip lists.” Prepared by Bi-Lo registered dietitian Monica Amburn, each tip list helps patients understand which tag categories will help them better manage their specific health conditions.

“Nutritional tags are just one of the many programs Bi-Lo offers its customers to help them create positive habits in leading healthier lifestyles,” said Amburn, in a prepared statement. “These tiny additions to our store will help shoppers find foods that are just right for them, whether they are trying to eat healthier or need assistance managing specific health conditions such as diabetes or celiac disease.”
