LAKELAND, Fla. — John Frazier, who worked for Publix Super Markets for 44 years, the last 13 as its vice president of real estate, announced his retirement effective Dec. 31, the retailer said Monday.
Jeff Chamberlain, currently the chain’s director of real estate market strategy, will assume Frazier’s role. Chamberlain began his career with Publix in 1972 as a front-service clerk. He has served his current role since 1999.
Frazier began his career at Publix in 1966 as a service clerk in Fort Pierce, Fla. He became a store manager in 1978 and joined the real estate department in 1990. “John has made significant contributions to Publix, particularly in our expansion into new market areas and our overall company growth,” Ed Crenshaw, chief executive officer of Publix, said in a statement. “Throughout his career, he has given unselfishly of himself and trained, mentored and developed future leaders.”
