Customers Protest Raley's Decision to Close Store

ELK GROVE, Calif. — Customers at a Bel Air store here — which Raley's said last week it plans to close in March — voiced their objections to the shutdown during a rally Sunday outside the store.

However, a chain spokesman told SN Tuesday Raley's decision will stand. "We appreciate their support and we understand their affinity for the store, but the decision to close it is still final," he said.

According to a report on a local TV station, the customer who organized the rally said, "For people who don't have a car, anyone can walk to this store. This is where we've been shopping for over 30 years. It's very important to us."
