Dickson to Retire From Ruddick Board

MATTHEWS, N.C. — Ruddick Corp. here, parent of the Harris Teeter chain, said last week that Alan T. Dickson has informed the company’s board of directors he will retire as a director after more than 40 years.

Plans call for Dickson to serve out the remainder of his term and retire at the opening of Ruddick’s 2010 annual shareholder scheduled for Feb. 18, 2010.

Dickson, 78, was the chairman of the board from 1994-2006 and president of the company from 1968-1994. His nephew, Thomas W. Dickson, is currently chairman, president and chief executive officer of the company.
