CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Shoppers looking for values on basic goods helped Dollar Tree Stores post a same-store sales improvement of 6.8% in the second quarter, the retailer here said Thursday.
Sales for the period ending Aug. 1 improved by 11.9% to $1.2 billion, which was at the high end of management’s guidance range.
The company in a statement cited health and beauty care, party supplies, household cleaning supplies and food as the leading categories as comps topped a 6.5% increase in the same period last year. The company will report earnings later this month.
