DAYTON, Ohio — Dorothy Lane Market has launched Honestly Local, a membership-based local food club.

Shoppers who prepay for an eight- or 16-week membership will receive weekly boxes containing local food and beverages beginning June 9.

Ron Williams, DLM Local Food Coordinator, will hand-select a box of the retailer’s best local products.

Prices range from $4 per week for bakery items like artisan bread, to $14 for wine and beer and $25 for a large box of produce. Ed Hill chicken and other meat, dairy and floral are also available.

Boxes will be available at all three Dorothy Lane locations each Thursday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. in two, eight-week periods: June 9-July 28 and Aug. 4-Sept. 22.

All customers must start with a produce box (a small is $15 per week) but can pre-order other add-ons if they wish.

Featured items will depend on what’s in season. For instance, fruit in the early weeks will be strawberries. As the season progresses raspberries, blackberries, peaches, apples and muskmelons will available.

Customers can sign up online, or via an in-store sign-up sheet. “By buying up front, we ensure you will receive the best that local farmers and producers have to offer,” Dorothy Lane states in promotional materials.
