MATTHEWS, N.C. — Sales momentum at Family Dollar continued through the fiscal third quarter, the retailer said Thursday. Sales for the period, which ended May 30, were $1.8 billion, an increase of 8.2%, with comparable-store sales climbing by 6.2% in the quarter.
Sales of consumable items, including food, led the pace with gains of about 13% during the quarter, the company said. Family Dollar will report earnings for the period next month.
