ARLINGTON, Va. — Food Marketing Institute told SN Thursday that it has rescheduled its inaugural FutureConnect leadership development conference for Oct. 12-14 at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas. The event had been scheduled for this month but was postponed because of concerns about the influenza H1N1 outbreak.

Marketechnics, the technology conference that was scheduled to follow FutureConnect in Dallas, will not take place in 2009, and will co-locate next year with the traditional FMI Show in Las Vegas on May 10-13.

FMI said attendee registrations for FutureConnect remain valid for the October event and are transferable to other individuals within companies. Registrations for Marketechnics can be credited toward attendance at FMI 2010 or any other FMI event through May 31, 2010.

FMI is expected to issue a revised schedule of speakers and sessions for the October FutureConnect, which will focus on developing industry leaders in the retail, wholesale and packaged goods industries. “

FMI appreciates the support and positive reinforcement we have received from the industry as we addressed the myriad issues resulting from the postponement of two events due to the influenza outbreak,” said Leslie G. Sarasin, president and chief executive officer, FMI, in a prepared statement. “We are thrilled to announce new plans to provide the industry with the essential education and insight provided by these events.”
