Giant Eagle Plans 1st Pa. Clinic

FINLEYVILLE, Pa. — Giant Eagle is preparing to open its first in-store clinic in Pennsylvania on Monday when the Healthy Directions clinic in this Pittsburgh suburb relocates to the Giant Eagle supermarket here.

FINLEYVILLE, Pa. — Giant Eagle is preparing to open its first in-store clinic in Pennsylvania on Monday when the Healthy Directions clinic in this Pittsburgh suburb relocates to the Giant Eagle supermarket here.

The walk-in clinic, a program in cooperation with Monogahela Valley Hospital, will offer some testing services, provide treatment for some routine medical conditions such as colds and flu, and offer physicals and immunizations, the Pittsburgh-based food retailer said. It will also offer educational programs.

The opening coincides with a remodel of the Giant Eagle pharmacy in the store, which now includes drive-through prescription services. Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle has operated a handful of clinics in its supermarkets in Ohio and West Virginia with other partners.

“Our partnership with Monongahela Valley Hospital takes our commitment to overall consumer health and wellness to a new level,” said Randy Heiser, vice president of pharmacy at Giant Eagle. “This new health care site provides Giant Eagle customers with fast and consistent access to a wide range of common medical services to accelerate their road to wellness.”
