Giant-Landover Wins Food For All Retailer of Year

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — Food For All said it has presented the Food For All Retailer of the Year award to Giant Food of Landover, Md.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — Food For All said it has presented the Food For All Retailer of the Year award to Giant Food of Landover, Md.

Robin Michel, president of Giant Food-Landover, accepted the award. The chain, owned by Amsterdam-based Ahold, was recognized for its support of the 2009 holiday season Good Neighbor/Food For All campaign and for its ongoing commitment to charitable programs in its stores. The Food For All Retailer of the Year award is an annual recognition bestowed on companies that exemplify outstanding corporate citizenship.

“We’re extremely proud of our customers’ and associates’ commitment to support our local communities. Through our annual holiday season Good Neighbor/Food For All campaign, we are able to raise much needed funds for our local and regional food banks including the Maryland Food Bank, Capital Area Food Bank and the Food Bank of Delaware to name a few,” said Kim Brown, vice president of public affairs and community relations for Giant.

“Giant Food not only executed a tremendously successful Good Neighbor/Food For All campaign, by raising more than $378,000 in 2009, but also through their continued commitment, have raised more than $2.5 million since 2001. They support their local non-profit agencies throughout the year with a myriad of excellent community-based initiatives.
