SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A Hannaford employee won the National Grocers Association's 25th Best Bagger Championship.
Krystal Smith of Burlington, Vt., ranked first among 25 competitors from around the country after filling three grocery bags in 38 seconds, according to Hannaford.
Krystal is the first bagger from Vermont to win the national championship. As the first place winner, she received $10,000 and will have a golden checkout aisle installed at the her store on 1127 North Ave., in Burlington, Vt., where she has been an associate for eight years.
The competition took place at NGA’s annual convention in Las Vegas Monday.
