Harris Teeter Signs With Cardtronics

CHARLOTTE — Harris Teeter here signed a long-term agreement with ATM service supplier Cardtronics to service the 205-store chain with ATM machines, the Houston-based ATM service provider announced on Tuesday.

As part of the agreement, Cardtronics initially installed in October 100 company-owned and operated ATMs for Harris Teeter in Florida, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Cardtronics' ATMs are part of its surcharge-free Allpoint Network.

Additionally, the agreement provides Cardtronics the exclusive right to install ATMs in new Harris Teeter stores, as well as to transition all existing non-bank branch cash machines at Harris Teeter stores to Cardtronics' ATMs, over time. Prior to Cardtronics, Harris Teeter offered its customers ATM access in more than 90 of its locations, with the cash machines supported by multiple financial institutions and ATM deployers.

Harris Teeter could not be reached for comment. Other supermarket chains using Cardtronics ATM services are Kroger, Safeway and Wegmans Food Markets.
