MATTHEWS, N.C. — Harris Teeter here is waiving its $4.95 fee for online shopping orders through March 1 at select stores, the chain said on its website, www.harristeeter.com.
The Express Lane online shopping service allows shoppers to order online and pick up their purchases at designated Harris Teeter locations. Pickups, which require at least four hours notice, can be made Monday-Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm. Harris Teeter designates "personal shoppers" in each of its Express Lane stores who select products.
"If you like your bananas a little green, just tell us on-line with the 'add notes' option and we'll pick the right ones for you," the website says.
In the checkout process shoppers are asked if they will allow substitutions. If so, they will be called in the event of an out-of-stock "to make sure you are getting an acceptable substitute," the site says.
To pick up orders, shoppers drive to "parcel pickup," push a button on the Express Lane call box, and their order is loaded into their car.
