SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Hiller’s Market will dedicate endcaps to nut-free foods in two stores beginning Wednesday.
Products free of peanuts and tree nuts appeal not only to shoppers sharing a household with a nut allergy sufferer, but parents of children attending peanut-aware schools or child care centers.
“So many schools have rules that food has to have no nuts in it,” Hiller’s spokeswoman Alison Schwartz told SN, “now there will be a section where all of the food, snacks and cooking ingredients will be safe.”
The displays come weeks after a Hiller's store tour for nut allergy sufferers drew such a crowd that another tour was added to the schedule.
“People are desperate for knowledge,” Schwartz said.
