Hy-Vee Gauges Interest in Social Network Site

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Along with being active on Facebook and Twitter, will Hy-Vee join the up-and-coming social networking site pinterest.com?

The retailer asked its Facebook fans if they are interested in pinterest.com, a virtual catalog for website bookmarks. Pinterest members use the site to store their favorite online recipes, travel ideas, home décor and other interests, plus browse pinboards created by others.

More than 50 Hy-Vee Facebook fans overwhelmingly responded that they love the site because it helps them organize their online life.

One person said she uses pinterest to organize her online recipes. "It's so much easier to find by picture instead of scrolling through text bookmarks," she said.

While Hy-Vee didn’t say that it was joining the site, at least one Facebook fan said it should.  "Hy-Vee should have food, services and product boards," the person wrote. "I'd definitely follow Hy-Vee."
