WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee is selling a book about Olympic gold medal winner and West Des Moines resident Shawn Johnson.
The 96-page softcover book, “Olympic Champion: Stories Behind the Smile Book,” is filled with 225 photos and quotes from Johnson, her parents and her coaches. The regular edition sells for $21.99, while the limited-edition autographed version retails for $50.
Johnson led the 2008 U.S. Olympic gymnastic team to a silver medal, then won silvers individually in the all-around finals and floor finals, and a gold in the beam finals.
Hy-Vee also announced a limited-edition Cheerios box featuring Johnson’s photo will soon be available for sale. It is said to be the first time an athlete is being featured on a Cheerios box.
Iowa Gov. Chet Culver declared Oct. 17 Shawn Johnson Day in the state.
