ABINGDON, Va. — K-VA-T Food Stores, the parent company of the Food City chain here, has purchased an office building where it will relocate its Knoxville, Tenn. regional office.

Steve Smith, Food City’s chief executive officer, told SN the purchase of the facility would allow K-VA-T to house its division employees in an owned rather than leased facility. Published reports said the retailer paid about $1 million for the property, which is only a few miles from its current offices.
