Kowalski’s Suggests Homemade Gifts for the Holidays

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Kowalski’s Markets is proposing an idea that will be particularly useful this year in such a tough economy — that its customers make gifts in their own kitchens. The simple recipes the company offers include as ingredients several of its private-label products.

In its December newsletter, the family-owned independent features recipes for Blond Brownies in a Jar, Chocolate Chunks, among others, and then describes how to pretty up the treats with attractive containers, raffia, and ribbon. Recipe ingredients include Guittard Dark Chocolate Flavor Dipping and Fondue Chips as well as Kowalski’s roasted and salted almonds, Kowalski’s butter toffee peanuts, and other store-brand products.

To give customers more ideas and detailed instructions, the company has scheduled a free gift-making class for Dec. 15 at its flagship store.
