LAS VEGAS — The Las Vegas Three Square Food Bank received 118,000 pounds of food donated by exhibitors at the Food Marketing Institute and United Fresh Market shows held here earlier this month, according to America’s Second Harvest, the network of food banks based in Chicago. The donation equals roughly 92,000 meals, including milk, bread, produce, cereal, luncheon meats, cheese and other items found in a typical supermarket, to help feed area residents who are living on the brink of hunger, according to Second Harvest. “This is by far the biggest single-day donation this food bank will receive this year,” Vicki Escarra, president and chief executive officer of America’s Second Harvest, said in a statement. “There was enormous effort involved in rescuing this food and getting it from the convention center to the food bank. We are extremely grateful to everyone who volunteered and made this happen.”
