ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A recipe for slow-cooked beef minestrone has bubbled to the top of Wegmans Food Markets’ most rated recipes, garnering 31 customer comments at wegmans.com.

Most of the time people rate a recipe because they like it, according to Wegmans which uses a five-star system.

“I usually avoid unnecessarily expensive items like pre-chopped vegetables and refrigerated prepared tomato sauce, but they’re totally worth it!” said “Michael” from Rochester, N.Y. of the beef minestrone recipe. “Total cost to prepare is $24, at about seven meal-sized servings per batch that’s less than $3.50 per serving.”

Other frequently rated dishes include Cauliflower, Spinach & Chicken Gratin with 29 ratings; Brown Sugar Barbecue Chicken with 25; and Pasta with Escarole, Beans & Sausage with 23.

“They’re crowd pleasers—very family friendly, and they’re very approachable in the kitchen—no special tools are needed,” said Cheryl Zappia, Wegmans’ meals team development manager, in a statement.
