Nash Finch Buying Bag ’N Save

MINNEAPOLIS — Nash Finch Co. here said Monday that its U Save Foods subsidiary has agreed to acquire the 12-store Bag ’N Save chain in Omaha and York, Neb.

Terms of the transaction, scheduled to close by the second quarter, were not disclosed. Nash Finch, which already owns 15 stores in the state, would continue to supply the Bag ’N Save chain as its wholesaler.

“While the decision to sell the stores was a difficult one, we believe that there are many benefits for our employee associates, local suppliers, and the community at large,” said Leon Shrago, owner of Bag ’N Save. “With Nash Finch’s dedication towards assisting family-owned businesses, we believe they are the best fit as the new owners of Bag ’N Save.”
