Newflower Changes Name in Texas

BOULDER, Colo. — Sunflower Farmers Market here said Monday it would change the name on its Texas stores from Newflower to Sunflower Farmers Market, effective Jan. 5

BOULDER, Colo. — Sunflower Farmers Market here said Monday it would change the name on its Texas stores from Newflower to Sunflower Farmers Market, effective Jan. 5.

The three stores, located in Austin, Dallas and Bee Cave, had been operating under the Newflower Farmers Market name because Minneapolis-based Supervalu had held the rights to the Sunflower name in Texas.

"We are thrilled to be able to promote brand consistency and customer recognition throughout all six states — soon to be seven states — where the Sunflower Farmers Market currently operates," said Mike Gilliland, Sunflower's founder and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.

Sunflower has 29 additional stores in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Nevada. In April 2011, the company is planning to enter California for the first time, with a location in Roseville. In addition, the company is planning its first Salt Lake City location in March, according to reports. It currently has two Utah locations, in Murray and Orem.
