Fourteen supermarkets and other food retailers have been honored by the Produce for Better Health Foundation for their outstanding support of PBH's "Fruits & Veggies ‹ More Matters" initiative.

HOCKESSIN, Del. — Fourteen supermarkets and other food retailers have been honored by the Produce for Better Health Foundation for their outstanding support, during 2010, of PBH's "Fruits & Veggies — More Matters" initiative.

Achieving PBH's "Role Model" status are Ahold USA, the U.S. Defense Commissary Agency, Food Lion, Kroger Co., Safeway, Schnuck Markets, and Supervalu.

Those achieving "Champion" status are A&P, Associated Wholesale Grocers, Big Y Foods, Meijer, Redner's Markets, Save Mart Supermarkets, and Weis Markets.

Champion status was given to retailers who consistently demonstrate support for Fruits & Veggies — More Matters in a variety of categories such as placing the logo on in-store signage, linking to the Fruits & Veggies — More Matters website, and placing copy about the initiative on the company's own consumer website.

To achieve Role Model status, a retailer must fulfill the Champion level requirements and also implement other strategies that support Fruits & Veggies — More Matters.
