Portland Union, Grocers Agree on New Deal

Union workers at Albertsons, Fred Meyer and Safeway stores have reached a tentative agreement with the chains on a four-year contract.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Union workers at Albertsons, Fred Meyer and Safeway stores here have reached a tentative agreement with the chains on a four-year contract. Leaders of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 555 here have recommended their members approve the new contract in a vote scheduled for this Saturday.
