Retail IT Execs Form New Charity Group to Address Adoption Issue

A group of IT-oriented retail executives, consultants and technology vendors have formed a new charity organization, RetailROI, aimed at raising awareness of — and developing solutions for — the adoption issue.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — A group of IT-oriented retail executives, consultants and technology vendors have formed a new charity organization, RetailROI, aimed at raising awareness of — and developing solutions for — the adoption issue.

“We are brainstorming ideas at the moment for how to provide funding through retail,” said Greg Buzek, president of IHL Group here. “We’ve had several ideas so far, including ‘round up for orphans’ at the POS, where transactions could be rounded to the nearest dollar.” The funding, he said, would be used to support charities that provide “feet on the street” in addressing such needs as orphan care, foster care, adoption, child rescue from human trafficking, and life skills training.

Seeking new members, RetailROI will meet for the first time on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the National Retail Federation Show in New York. For more information, contact Buzek at [email protected].
